| Polartec Partners with Bluesign Approved Polygiene |
| Active Odour Control Technology to Feature In Premium Polartec Fabrics |

 Polartec, LLC, the world’s premier manufacturer of performance fabrics, has entered into a partnership with Sweden-based Polygiene® AB, makers of bluesign® approved silver-salt odour resistant technology, to develop premium, environmentally safe, permanently odour resistant fabrics. Polartec® Power Dry® with Polygiene® will be available to consumers in the spring of 2011.
“Silver-salt is a highly effective odour resistant technology and Polygiene’s bluesign endorsement makes them an extremely compelling option for Polartec and more importantly for our customers and consumers,” states Polartec executive vice president of sales and marketing, Jon Adelman. “Most Polartec fabrics are bluesign approved already and converting to Polygiene rounds out the complete collection.”
Polygiene® technology provides an antimicrobial effect that controls odour caused by microorganisms. The technology applies silver ions on fabrics to inhibit the growth of odour-causing bacteria and promote a feeling of freshness across a wide range of activities. Polygiene® has been approved by bluesign® and has been included by Oeko-Tex® in its list of safe products. The Polygiene® treatment is permanent for the life of the garment and utilises 100% recycled silver.
Polartec® is launching Polygiene® in its Polartec® Power Dry® base layer fabrics. Polartec® Power Dry® is designed to keep skin dry when you sweat and is ideal next-to-skin for runners, skiers, climbers and other adventure-seekers. Polartec® Power Dry® fabric features patented bi-component knit construction that uses different yarns on either side of the fabric to create two different surfaces: one to move moisture away from the skin and the other to dry quickly. Combined with Polygiene®, Polartec® Power Dry® is the leading technical performance base layer.
