 INFO, CONTATCS - Ferrino
It was 1870 and Cesare Ferrino began production of the fabric waterproofing formula that he had discovered, tested and perfected over time, on an industrial scale.

It was a winning idea. Ferrino's story began here.

Right in the shop in 107 Via Nizza, Turin, the production centre for waxed cloths, coverings and army tents. It was also the only address for those who required avant-garde products: from Senator Giovanni Agnelli, who personally ordered "hoods" for cars, to historical figures in the world of mountaineering and exploring, such as Alberto Maria De Agostini, who put up his Ferrino "Neghelli" tent in the barren lands of Tierra del Fuego in the 1920s.

The company headquarters have changed and so have its technologies, but the past still remains a point of reference. Attention to professionalism, careful work methods, and the choice of designs and final products remain today the factors that make the company a success: single chapters in a story renews itself by staying faithful to its roots.

THE FERRINO HIGH-LAB 1994-2004

10 years of experimentations, collaborations, innovations, and success.

10 years that can be summed up in two words: High-Lab.

1994, Monte Rosa: at the Quintino Sella Refuge at 3585 m, the Ferrino High-Lab project (HL) was born: a permanent laboratory for the testing of new materials, new products, and prototypes of backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags.

2004. Ten years later, High-Lab has been confirmed as the high point of Ferrino's research, moving along a road that has been consolidated over time, and characterized by the following operative criteria:

- Design
- HL testing of materials
- Prototype production
- HL Test (daily recording of wear of the materials subjected to UVA rays, changes in temperature and humidity, wind, freezing, and blizzards, thanks to data furnished constantly over a 24-hour period by anemometers, hygrometers, and thermometers
- Technical improvements
- Pilot production
- Field testing by alpinists and excursionists
- Definitive production
- Final HL Product Testing

ECO-COMPATIBILITY: HIGH LEVELS OF COMMITMENT

On K2, Ferrino participated in scientific projects concerning environmental management, coherent with international standard ISO 14001. They continue their successful collaboration with the Department of Commodity Sciences of the University of Turin at the Sagarmatha Park in Nepal. They are planning a new series of activities to develop a complete Preliminary Environmental Analysis with the objective of identifying elements that will be useful in the coordination of sustainable development policies in this area.

SOLIDARIETY IN ALL CORNERS OF THE WORLD

Ferrino supports sport and outdoor initiatives with the scope of promoting concrete acts of solidarity with regards to developing populations.

Mali - Ferrino is among the protagonists of the 'Nomad Health Care' project being carried out by the non-profit organization LVIA. This initiative should guarantee medical care for nomad populations in the Menaka region, and in the province of Bourem - Gao region.

Nepal - The commitment of the 'The Friends of Monte Rosa' non-profit organization - which counts Silvio Mondinelli among its founders - is credited with the establishment of the school at Namche Bazar. Thanks to this initiative, 80 children are now able to attend elementary school. The non-profit organization is now dedicated to concrete projects with the scope of improving living conditions for the populations of Nepal.

Thailand - Naucrates is an Italian organization that has been involved in environmental protection and education projects in southern Thailand. Eight years ago on the isle of Phra Thong, a project was started to evaluate the state of health of the nesting sea turtles and mangrove forest. 'Unfortunately - explain the organizers - on December 26, 2004 the project was washed away by the tsunami.' The Naucrates team looks towards the future: 'We will continue our programs of knowledge and conservation of nature.' Constant efforts are also being made on the solidarity front: 'Our efforts are aimed at the reconstruction of villages and schools for children.'
