Arc’teryx Alpine Arc’ademy: higher up!
Vancouver, B.C. Arc’teryx Equipment is offering three days of pure alpinism in the heart of the Alps with events & workshops for beginners to professionals. After successfully premiering last year, the Arc’teryx Alpine Arc’ademy continues to attract mountaineers and aspiring mountaineers to Chamonix in June.

High above Chamonix, on the Aiguille du Midi, the second Alpine Arc’ademy takes place from June 14th to 16th: a weekend for all, those at the beginning of their alpine career – or those wanting to improve their skills and share their passion with others. Participants can choose from a broad spectrum of clinics including a new special addition this year: Alpine photography with top photographer Alexandre Buisse! The website is now online and open for applications: www.alpinearcademy.com

Alpine professionals and the Arc’ademy’s hosting brands guide participants through the 3 days: Equipment choice, alpine tours, alpine climbing, high altitude medicine, mountain rescue and the ups and downs of alpinism in all its variations.

Guests can test the latest equipment, extend their skills or learn more about injury prevention or caring for climbing equipment during the lecture night. The following plenary discussion with some of the world’s best alpinists deals with the question: “What is alpinism today?”. The next day, spectacular movies will be shown by leading athletes of the alpine world at the Alpine Movie Night.

The goal is to provide participants with a better understanding of individual security and expertise in the mountains to allow them to experience the joy it
can bring in a safe setting. Mountain guides from the local Compagnie des Guides and Arc’teryx athletes like Ines Papert, Will Gadd, Nina Caprez, Luka Lindic support the participants with both words and deeds.!

A new, additional service is installed at the valley station of the Aiguille du Midi gondola: The new repair center offers possibilities for alpine equipment repair and care for all Alpine Arc’ademy guests.!

The Arc’teryx Alpine Arc’ademy is organized by Arc’teryx together with the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, GORE-TEX®, Suunto, Petzl and SCARPA. ! Additional information on the Alpine Arc`ademy program, registration to the workshops is available online since March 26th: www.alpinearcademy.com or on Facebook

A prize draw for a two-person trip to the Alpine Arc’ademy, complete with equipment from the sponsoring brands is also online at www.arcteryx.com/alpinearcademy2013
