Lead Now Tour: Paige Claassen established new 8b+ in South Africa
A young talented American climber: she is Paige Claassen, 23, from Boulder, Colorado. She achieved the first female ascent of the super-technical Grand Ole Opry (8c/c+) in the Monastery but her dreams go beyond her local crags. In fact Paige is now in South Africa where early July she began the Lead Now Tour.

The Lead Now Tour is an amazing global event. Paige will attempt significant climbing challenges in 12 countries over 12 months to inspire people of all cultures to lead a life of adventure. Moreover she wants to raise $120,000 to enable women and children to sustain their own communities while solving diverse social problems.

The climbing trip started in the best way possible: in South Africa, Paige made the first ascent of Digital Warfare (8b+) on the wonderful, smooth and overhanging Wow Prow. «Before I arrived, I didn't expect to be able to do the route; but once I began trying, I knew I was capable. After a few days of frustration, taking me through the typical rollercoaster of emotions that comes with projecting, I sent Digital Warfare. The time pressure set in, along with the knowledge that, as an open project, anyone could walk up and climb the route whenever they wanted. Although this certainly elevated my stress level because I so badly wanted to complete the most beautiful route I'd ever seen, I still would have been happy if I made the hundredth ascent».

The Lead Now Tour will continue next month in Russia, in the Triangular Lake area north to St. Petersburg close to Finland. In September Paige will be in Italy, she will stay in Premana where C.A.M.P. has its head office; she want to climb the legendary Mello's Valley routes with her amazing Supernova, the innovative and super-comfortable CAMP harness conceived by Paige for all women climbers.
