|Do you remember the “CASSIN block” at Melloblocco 2013? Many competitors climbed it and, among them, we drew Michele Negri, the winner of a climbing day in Mello's Valley with the legendary alpinist and C.A.M.P. experienced designer Ottavio Fazzini. Bad weather forced Michele and Ottavio to postpone several times their adventure but eventually, in the last days, they managed to achieve their goal: the famous Luna nascente route. Photographer Riky Felderer followed them to took a lot of exciting pictures.
The trio met at the popular bar Monica in San Martino, close to the Mello's Valley. They had breakfast and then reached the start of the amazing cracks line of Luna nascente. Only few persons were in the valley and Michele and Ottavio enjoyed the route: Luna nascente is a really nice climb, the masterpiece of Antonio Boscacci that during the weekends is usually climbed by many people. Perfect granite, snowy mountains around, blue sky with fantastic clouds and crisp air: these are the ingredients of a wonderful day that Michele will never forget. Because it was a special thing to be guided in the Mello rock paradise by a legend as Ottavio, who first climbed major routes in this area as Divieto di sosta and Pejonasa Wall on the Precipizio degli Asteroidi and Vuoto senza ritorno on the Mongolfiera.
Crack after crack, Michele and Ottavio reached the final slab and on the summit they was really happy. «Well, you have just climbed Luna nascente – the leader said to his young mate –. So I wish you to climb Oceano irrazionale and the other magic routes of Mello's Valley!». But for the next days Michele has a different plan: he want to take part at the Melloblocco 2014 where C.A.M.P. will be present again!
